Yes, chiropractic care may help some people with sciatica, depending on the underlying cause of their symptoms. At Atlantic Health & Chiropractic, we frequently evaluate and treat patients experiencing sciatic-type pain.
Sciatica typically causes pain that travels from the lower back or buttock down the back or side of the leg and may extend into the calf or foot. Some people also experience numbness, tingling, or weakness. Common causes include a lumbar disc bulge or herniation, spinal stenosis, and other conditions that irritate or compress the nerve roots that form the sciatic nerve.
Treatment depends on what we find during the examination. At our Atlantic City chiropractic office, a treatment plan may include chiropractic adjustments, lumbar spinal decompression, therapeutic exercises, and supportive therapies such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, cupping, therapeutic laser, or manual myofascial work.
Our goal is to determine what may be contributing to your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan to reduce pain, improve mobility, and help you return to normal activity.
