Should I See a Chiropractor After a Car Accident?

Yes, a chiropractor may be an appropriate provider to see after a car accident if you are experiencing neck pain, back pain, stiffness, headaches, or other musculoskeletal symptoms.

Car accidents can place significant stress on the muscles, joints, and other soft tissues of the body. One of the most common injuries is whiplash, which occurs when the head and neck are rapidly forced forward and backward. Symptoms may include neck pain, stiffness, headaches, shoulder discomfort, and reduced range of motion.

At Atlantic Health & Chiropractic, we evaluate patients after car accidents to identify areas of pain, restricted movement, and other signs of musculoskeletal injury. When appropriate, treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, therapeutic exercises, electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, or other supportive therapies based on the patient's individual condition.

It's important to remember that soreness and stiffness may not always be at their worst immediately after an accident. Symptoms can become more noticeable in the hours or days that follow.

Certain symptoms require prompt medical evaluation. Seek immediate medical attention after an accident if you experience severe or worsening headache, loss of consciousness, confusion, significant weakness or numbness, difficulty walking, chest or abdominal pain, or other concerning symptoms.

If you're experiencing neck or back pain following a car accident, an evaluation can help determine the nature of your injury and whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.
